We offer programs for both girls and boys that range in age, from U4-U18. Our program, Tir Na Nog (land of youth), is offered to boys and girls U4 with parent.
In 2018 our men’s club was established. The men’s team is made up of Delco Gaels that have aged out (18+) of the youth program. This team “homegrown” team is the first of it’s kind in the United States. In 2019 our ladies followed by establishing a women’s team.
We are proud to be one of the first clubs in the USGAA, alongside the Glenside Gaels, to create an official Mothers & Others team. The Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative sees women playing Ladies Gaelic Football in a FUN, NON-COMPETITIVE, and SOCIAL environment. The initiative has been very popular with women of all ages in all 32 counties across Ireland and we are thrilled to join our friends here in Philadelphia’s GAA in our own Mothers & Others league!
The Indoor League program runs for 6-8 weeks January-February.
The Summer League programs run from late April to July.
Outdoor training facilities are located throughout Haverford Township.
The Club participates in many blitzes throughout the season as well as the successful local divisional tournament, The Liam Hegarty Liberty Bell Tournament, and travels to tournaments in Allentown, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, and Connecticut.
The Club also participates in the Continental Youth Championships, the largest Gaelic games tournament outside of Ireland. The CYC is a 4-day tournament, held the last week in July or first week in August in a selected Host City. Philadelphia and the Delco Gaels were the hosts in 2008, 2013 and 2019. Over 2,000 players participate and compete against teams from the United States and Canada.
The Féile Peil na nÓg or Féile is a national festival of Gaelic football for boys and girls under 14 years of age. It is held annually in a selected host county in Ireland. The Delco Gaels U14 boys have participated in the Féile since 2007. The club was proud to send our first ever Ladies U14 team in 2018.
In 2021 the Feile age was changed to U15 for boys and girls. In July of 2022 we will be sending a girls Feile team.
The continued development of our players, coaches, and referees is encouraged, all of our coaches are volunteers. Camps and clinics are organized by the divisional Games Development Officer throughout the year. Individuals interested in coaching or assisting, volunteering as an official, etc. are welcome. Introductory (no experience or knowledge of the game necessary) and training is available.
